Aims
Our overall aim is, quite simply, to ensure that
Bristol Rovers has a bright and long-term future.
Central to the
achievement of this are, we believe, two key principles:
- Effective
Supporter Involvement In The Running Of The Club
- Strong
Links With The Local Community
(i) Effective Supporter Involvement In The
Running Of The Club:Supporters are the lifeblood of any
club. We are the people that come through the turnstiles week in
week out, purchase merchandise, sponsor players and, through many
other activities, ensure that there is a club to support. Moreover,
we are the people that are always there in a crisis. This makes
supporters a pretty unique bunch: loyal, whatever the product on
offer is like, dedicated and only wanting what is the best for
the club. All well run businesses recognise that their key stakeholders
are critical to their success and this is why we believe that supporters
need to have a strong voice in the club’s decision making
process.
What will supporter involvement mean in practice?
- That supporters views are used to underpin the
club’s medium/long-term plans
- That there is regular and effective communication
from the Board on progress in achieving these goals
- That effective channels exist by which the fans
can monitor progress, provide challenge and be consulted on key
issues affecting the club).
If this is implemented then the club will be equipped
with the foundations that are critical for the attainment of a successful
and sustainable future: a clear vision for the future, good governance,
transparency and accountability. The Gas Trust firmly believes that
supporter involvement is most effective via share ownership and democratic
election to the club board.
